How to Understand Your Summer Tax Bill

The summer tax bills were mailed July 1, and some property owners may have questions about it, including why City Police and Fire is listed twice.

The two listings are part of the same Police and Fire Millage after voters in May approved a permanent dedicated millage increase to meet the community’s needs for police, fire and emergency medical services due to Kentwood’s growing population.

The millage was listed separately on this year’s tax bill to help bring greater transparency to the voter-approved increase. The two lines will be combined on next year’s summer tax bill.
