KPD Launches New Text Message Surveys to Enhance Service

Our Police Department has launched a new public feedback opportunity to enhance its customer service and community engagement. Beginning Sept. 20, community members who interact with our department will receive a customer service survey via text message following calls for service for non-life-threatening incidents.

Text messages will be sent 24 hours after an incident between 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The first three questions will ask for a satisfaction rating between 1-5 and the final question will invite people to type a comment. There will also be a link at the end community members can click to send an email with more information about their experience.

Residents who do not want to participate can simply not respond. They can also reply with STOP to opt out of all future surveys from the department.

Please note: These texts are intended to collect feedback only, not police reports. Please continue to call 911 to report any type of emergency or criminal activity while they are happening. To report an incident after the fact, community members can call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 616.698.6580 or file an online report at kentwood.us/police/OnlinePoliceReporting. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Silent Observer at 616.774.2345 or SilentObserver.org.

We believe this initiative will provide an easier and quicker way for community members to share feedback with us. Of course, individuals can still call our non-emergency line 616.698.6580 or contact us online to share comments as well. We look forward to hearing from our community and continuing to enhance our efforts to serve you with excellence.
