The City of Kentwood Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Recruit. We are looking for ambitious men and women with high moral integrity and a strong work ethic.
POLICE RECRUIT JOB DESCRIPTION |
minimum requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Must have a high school diploma or GED;
- Be a United States citizen at the time of testing;
- Must not have any felony convictions and certain misdemeanor convictions;
- Possess a valid Michigan driver's license prior to hire date;
- Police Academy Sponsorship
- Comprehensive Health Insurance (including vision and dental)
- Life Insurance
- Retirement/401K (9% employer contribution)
- Continuing education and training
- Attends formal training classes at Grand Valley State University Police Academy and/or a similar MCOLES approved facility in preparation for reclassification to Patrol Officer
- Attends an orientation period at the Kentwood Police Department
- Completes training assignments (resulting from the orientation period)
- Learns the Department’s policies and procedures
