DATA-DRIVEN APPROACH TO CRIME AND TRAFFIC SAFETY
The Kentwood Police Department has continued its efforts towards DDACTS (Data-Driven Approach to Crime and Traffic Safety). DDACTS is an operational model that uses the integration of location-based crime and traffic data to establish effective and efficient methods for deploying law enforcement and other resources. The goal is to reduce the incidence of crime, crashes, and traffic violations in the community.
In 2016, we further refined our patrol efforts on specific areas based upon a temporal analysis of crime. In doing so, we have been able to narrow down the days and times of crashes and criminal activity, which better allow for an effective presence and deployment of resources.
To accomplish this goal, we are conducting highly-visible traffic enforcement in various areas throughout the City. As a means to educate citizens within these areas, we have begun dispersing DDACTS information cards.
In order for this initiative to continue to be a success, we need the assistance of our citizens. We respectfully request you contact us with information about any criminal activity, suspicious activity, traffic concerns or anything else you believe impacts your community. If you see something–say something.
