Parks and Recreation

Looking for some activities to stay busy over the next couple of weeks? Our recreation coordinators have put together a fun 14 day challenge with daily activities you can do on your own or with your family. Participants will win a $5 gift certificate which can be used towards a Kentwood Parks & Recreation program. To participate, simply take pictures each day of your challenge completion. At the end of the 14 days, submit your photos to erecreation@kentwood.us. We also encourage you to share your photos in the comments on Facebook each day. Those who comment with a photo will be entered to win a free City of Kentwood 5k race entry or a $10 gift certificate for our programs. Good luck and have fun! We can’t wait to see your photos!

Day 1 Challenge
Complete at least two of these chores before noon! 

  • Laundry
  • Do the dishes
  • Make the bed
  • Vacuum
  • Clean the bathroom
  • Clean out your "junk drawer"
  • Wash the windows
  • Sweep
  • Dust
  • Take out the trash
  • Clean refrigerator
  • Organize your closet

Day 3 Challenge
Create some tree-themed art! Paint, draw, color, sculpt – be creative! Submit photos of your artwork to the Arbor Day Art Contest at www.kentwood.us/arborday

Go for a bike ride, walk, or run and count the robins you see. They are a sure sign spring is here!

Write a letter! Did you know the month of April is national card and letter writing month? What a perfect time to write a letter to a friend, loved one, or a new pen-pal! If you run out of people to send it to, mail a letter to Kentwood Parks & Rec: 355 48th St SE, Kentwood, MI 49548.

Day 12 Challenge
Getting stiff from all the sitting around? Check out this virtual yoga session from our instructor, Racee Matice. This 30 minute class will help you loosen up and relax your mind.
