About Kentwood Inspections

The City of Kentwood’s Inspections Department serves as a resource for the community to assist with construction projects. From home projects to business renovations, the department provides residents and businesses with the information needed to successfully complete construction projects and transform their space.

By regulating building construction, alteration, repair and equipment installation to ensure compliance with construction codes and other related rules and regulations, the department helps protect the health, safety and welfare of visitors and residents.

The department performs plan reviews, issues permits and conducts building inspections, as well as electrical, mechanical and plumbing inspections. The City also conducts rental inspections as part of its rental property oversight program.
