National Night Out culminates annually on the first Tuesday in August.  As a Department, we anxiously look forward to this fun and exciting event every year.  National Night Out is an extension of the Neighborhood Watch program, which encourages neighbors to gather together, meet with community leaders, as well as Police and Fire Department personnel.  It is a national effort that promotes community interaction and partnerships.  It is crucial in developing local anti-crime efforts, strengthening neighborhood spirit and bridging the gap between the police and community.  We are very thankful for all the various neighborhoods in Kentwood that are dedicated to doing their part to keep our city a wonderful place which to live, work, and play.  If you would like to participate in hosting a block party in your neighborhood for NNO, please contact Officer Derrick Wolterink at 616-656-6569 or by email at wolterinkd@kentwood.us.
