Thank you for visiting our website. We appreciate your interest in learning more about the Kentwood Fire Department. We hope you will find this site helpful and informative. Please take the opportunity to visit us at one of our stations; we are here to serve you.

Kentwood provides essential emergency services—fire protection, emergency medical basic life support, rescue, and hazardous materials response are delivered from three fire stations. The Kentwood Fire department staffing consists of nearly 50 full-time staff. Firefighters are tasked with daily workload operations and maintenance tasks and are the immediate first responders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The department continues to evolve to meet the ever changing needs of our residents. The Kentwood Fire Department also has three fire prevention personnel. They are also firefighters and conduct business inspections, plan review, fire investigation and public education. These activities are a very important part of fire prevention and are great opportunities to interact with the community. Our firefighters and fire prevention staff especially enjoy the time spent in the schools and with students touring the stations.

The fire service is a deeply rewarding vocation that demands the best a person has to offer. Being a firefighter is not for everyone and requires an unusual level of commitment and dedication. To learn more about being a firefighter or the Kentwood Fire Department please contact us and our staff will assist you in any way we can.

Sincerely,
Brent J. Looman, Fire Chief
