Join our team as Chief Probation Officer

We're hiring! The City of Kentwood is seeking applicants for Chief Probation Officer.

This position is part of the Probation Department, which supervises and rehabilitates misdemeanor offenders while in the community.  In addition, the department prepares pre-sentence investigation reports, also known as background investigations, for the court. 

Reporting directly to the district court administrator, the main responsibilities for this role include planning, coordinating and overseeing the court’s probation functions and staff and providing probation services. 

The compensation range for this position is $25.88 - $36.24, dependent on qualifications and experience. The City of Kentwood also offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Internships & Externships

Judicial Externships

The 62-B District Court is committed to the education of future attorneys and officers of the court.  As such, we provide placements for nonpaid externship opportunities at the court. Assignments at the district court are varied, and specific duties and special projects are determined at the time of application and interview.  

All externs must have completed their second year of law school or equivalent education.  Students are considered on a case-by-case basis.
